Online Banking identifies a particular user by the user name and password.

Be sure to keep your user name and password secret.
A single-time password for the first log into Online Banking is assigned to each user by the bank. During the first login user creates his/her own permanent password, which will be necessary to change from time to time for security purposes. Online Banking presents (sends) this digitally signed document to your Internet browser before each session, and browser verifies validity of this certificate. Valid security certificate guarantees impossibility of third party to decode communication session.
To open security certificate check window, click the key pictogram. Make sure that certificate displays the correct address of Online Banking (Issued to) online.citadele.lv and certificate issuer is (Issued by) thawte Extended Validation SSL CA. Certificate status should be valid.
In case the owner or issuer of certificate differs from the above mentioned immediately end session and contact Bank!Pay attention to warnings of Internet browser
The "Action list" section of the "Profile" menu provides information on Online Banking login history - IP addresses from which Online Banking was accessed, connection time and status - successful or unsuccessful authorization.
Information on last successful, unsuccessful and incomplete login is also displayed on Online Banking login page.
For example, IP address of your computer can be found in MS DOS Command Prompt by entering "ipconfig". The IP address of proxy server can be found in your browser configuration settings. If you use "dial-up" and the IP address of your computer may change, contact your Internet provider to figure out the possible range of IP addresses.
Particular attention should be paid to the connection information if you have problems with accessing Online Banking (password is forgotten, Online Banking access blocked) and the Bank's officer has changed the password upon user's request. Online Banking doesn't save information about your Online Banking session on computer's hard drive. At the same time Internet browser keeps in memory information about Online Banking pages accessed.

Online Banking "Logout" button unlike browser's function "Close" not only ends the session but also deletes all information from memory about Online Banking session.
The Bank recommends all Online Banking users not to use option of saving password or any other information, for example, user name, offered by Internet browsers.
In Internet Explorer open the "Internet Options" submenu of the "Tools" menu. Choose the "Content" section and click the "AutoComplete" button. Make sure that the "User names and passwords on forms" option is not ticked. To delete previously saved passwords, click the "Clear passwords" button.
In Mozilla Firefox open the "Preferences" submenu of the "Edit" menu. Choose the "Passwords" section of the "Privacy&Security" menu. Make sure that the "Remember passwords" option is not ticked. To delete previously saved passwords, click the "Manage stored passwords" and "Remove all" buttons.
Make sure that antivirus software is installed and activated on the computer from which you access Online Banking. Antivirus software should be regularly updated.
Use firewall - a program that checks and filters incoming and outgoing data, as well as identifies attempts of remote access to your computer.
